About The Position

The Engineer Structural 2 analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications involving metal, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design or operation. Work may involve structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment, and maintenance designs. The role also analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling. Structural specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis. Tools may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer, and other software applications. This position is with Newport News Shipbuilding’s CVN Hull Structural team. It is a first-shift role and is not eligible for telework. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time. U.S. citizenship is required, but security clearance is not required to start. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience, or a master’s degree and 0 years of relevant professional experience.
U.S. citizenship is required.

Perform work in structural specialties that may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis.
