We look forward to meeting you. The Role Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. The candidate selected for this position will serve as software engineer in test for the SwCoE Test Team. In addition to supporting software verification and test automation, the candidate may also participate in requirements engineering and systems engineering activities to support broader project needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software testing philosophies and have a technical emphasis in software testing, electrical, instrumentation, controls, networks, cyber, and automation.
  • A deep understanding of the software test lifecycle, test automation, and both traditional and agile project management.
  • Experience with Industry Standards for Software and Software Testing.
  • Proven Technical Knowledge on Test Design, Test Techniques, and requirements analysis.
  • An engaging individual who desires to learn complex systems.
  • Proactive and responsive engagement with all internal and external customers.
  • Experience with Object Oriented Programming Languages such as C++, C#, Python
  • Experience with Agile + DevOps
  • Experience working with Databases such as MySQL/MS Access
  • Experience working with Linux
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management tools and processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with various teams

Nice To Haves

  • ISTQB Certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support software manual testing for shipboard systems.
  • Support test automation, and new technologies (GenAI) for our test strategy.
