About The Position

Shure is hiring a Senior Audio Electronics Design Engineer to contribute independently to the design, development, verification, and support of electronic hardware and embedded systems for professional audio products. The work spans analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, and embedded systems used in products such as wired and wireless microphones, signal processors, conference systems, and accessories. The role contributes across the product-development lifecycle, including system architecture, circuit design, simulation, prototyping, schematic capture, PCB layout, embedded software development, hardware verification, troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional technical leadership. The successful candidate will work through ambiguity, learn unfamiliar technologies, build prototypes, and independently investigate and solve challenging technical problems. The position is based onsite at Shure’s headquarters in Niles, Illinois. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; Shure will not sponsor work visas.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field and at least 5 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability to independently design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot electronic or embedded systems.
Strong knowledge of analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, and embedded circuit design.
Experience with schematic capture, PCB development, board bring-up, circuit simulation, and laboratory test equipment.
Programming or scripting experience in languages such as C, C++, or Python, including software for embedded development, hardware interaction, test automation, or data analysis.
Experience with embedded systems, communication interfaces, microcontrollers or processors, and hardware/software integration.
Hands-on ability to build, modify, solder, and debug prototype electronics.
Ability to investigate unfamiliar problems, learn new technologies, and turn ideas into practical solutions.
Strong technical communication, documentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis; work visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

Experience with audio electronics.
Experience with embedded Linux or RTOS environments.

Responsibilities

Independently design, simulate, prototype, test, and troubleshoot analog, digital, power, mixed-signal, and embedded systems.
Develop PCB assemblies, including schematic design, layout, board bring-up, circuit modification, and verification.
Develop embedded software, scripts, and engineering tools for prototyping, hardware evaluation, test automation, data collection, and troubleshooting.
Contribute to system architecture and make design decisions spanning hardware, software, interfaces, processors, and power systems.
Build prototypes and proof-of-concept systems to evaluate technologies, reduce technical risk, and demonstrate product solutions.
Lead investigations into complex development, manufacturing, compatibility, performance, and field issues.
Create technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, verification results, and issue summaries.
Collaborate with hardware, software, mechanical, acoustics, test, manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and compliance teams.
Provide technical guidance, participate in design reviews, and mentor other engineers.
Support manufacturing test, production readiness, and ongoing product support as needed.
