About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an RF Subsystem Integration and Test Engineer for the Airborne Multifunction Sensors Engineering & Sciences organization, based onsite in Baltimore (Linthicum), Maryland. This full-time role offers a 9/80 schedule and involves work in antenna hardware testing, electromagnetics, computational electromagnetics, and RF/microwave test, design, and analysis. The position is contingent upon program award and requires a current, active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher. The engineer develops technical solutions to complex problems, using ingenuity and creativity while exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives. Work includes integrating and testing advanced antenna systems and phased arrays in engineering development and manufacturing environments, analyzing subsystem performance from RF through digital hardware, and supporting performance testing and requirements verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline and 2 years of related experience, or a master's degree and 0 years of experience; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB and its use for data analysis.
  • Experience setting up and testing hardware in a lab or bench-top environment.
  • Basic understanding of RF and antenna theory.
  • Basic understanding of antenna/RF performance analysis.
  • Current, active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of antenna range integration, testing, and subsystem integration.
  • Experience setting up test environments in near-field (NF) ranges and compact ranges (CR).
  • Experience testing phased arrays in a near-field or compact range.
  • Test software development experience in a near-field antenna range.
  • Experience troubleshooting RF subsystems.
  • Current, active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Active Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Technical ability or working knowledge in subsystem integration and test involving antennas and phased arrays; active electronically scanned arrays (AESAs); highly integrated subsystems and antenna hardware; reflectors, reflect arrays, and digital beam forming; antenna/RF performance analysis; or antenna measurements and data reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop understanding of antenna test equipment used for factory phased-array testing.
  • Integrate new equipment and programs into a state-of-the-art facility.
  • Develop software to automate test processes and data analysis.
  • Troubleshoot RF issues during testing of advanced antenna systems.
  • Support technicians with troubleshooting and training.
  • Analyze test data and identify early trends.
  • Support the team lead in developing root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with design engineering on hardware and test improvements.
  • Perform subsystem analysis, including hardware from RF to digital systems.
  • Support performance testing and requirements verification.
  • Support subsystem and system-level integration and testing in engineering development and manufacturing environments.
