(CAQ - Internal Job Posting) Engineer Process Management
About The Position
The Engineer Process Management provides internal logistics support, oversight, standardization, and technical leadership for internal material handling operations through organized practices and processes that support ArcelorMittal Calvert’s business goals. The role contributes to the design, planning, and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment, and promotes operational excellence through simulation, task-specific tool programming, data analysis, and resource optimization. The position supports continuous improvement by researching and proposing solutions that improve safety, processes, cost, and quality. It participates in capital expenditure projects and strategic decision-making, coordinates analysis and design sessions with business-line and functional representatives, and guides teams in developing tests, training plans, and materials. It also provides day-to-day user support and improves user productivity through new business-process and systems solutions. The role may contribute to crane automation, system optimization, AI integration, data analytics and big-data initiatives, reporting and business-intelligence tools, and future technology implementation. The employee is expected to uphold the company’s values and commitments to safety, quality, teamwork, and a safe and healthy workplace, and maintain working knowledge of competencies defined in the current versions of ISO 14001, IATF 16949, and ISO 17025. The work environment is an office and industrial setting in Calvert, Alabama. The schedule is Monday through Friday on days, with extended hours as needed during peak workloads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business administration, supply chain, or information technology.
- Experience in simulation and model building.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes in a steel producer/processor industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Project management skills, including project plan development and tracking, issue resolution, risk mitigation, and metrics development and tracking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strong organization, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and a high degree of professionalism.
- Willingness to work extended hours during periods of peak workload.
Responsibilities
- Provide internal logistics support, oversight, standardization, and technical leadership for internal material handling operations.
- Participate in the design, planning, and implementation of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Simulate smart object models, program task-specific tools, analyze data, and optimize resources to support operational excellence.
- Research and propose continuous-improvement solutions that improve safety, processes, cost, and quality.
- Take initiative to investigate issues and provide input toward resolving them.
- Participate in capital expenditure projects and strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate and facilitate interactive analysis and design sessions with business-line and functional-unit representatives.
- Guide business and functional units in developing tests, training plans, and training materials.
- Provide day-to-day user support and improve user productivity by developing and implementing business-process and systems solutions.
- Support crane automation initiatives, system optimization, AI integration opportunities, data analytics and big-data solutions, automation and digitalization projects, reporting and business-intelligence tools, and future technology implementation.
