About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking an Engineer (Associate/Mid/Senior) or Engineering Tech Spec I/II/III for their Millstone Power Station in Connecticut. This role will serve as a Control Operations Electrical Coordinator (COEL), providing technical expertise and project leadership. The position is responsible for coordinating work related to Power Delivery in support of the Millstone Power Station and Millstone 15G Substation, representing Millstone's interests in work impacting the station, and ensuring COEL-related work does not cause reliability issues. The role also involves supporting the development of Risk Plans, submitting Eversource forms, and providing backup support for the Principal Engineer and COEL Supervisor during outages. Military service members and veterans with specific ranks and equivalent education/experience are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Associate Engineer/Engineering Technical Specialist I = 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Engineer/Engineering Technical Specialist II = 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Sr. Engineer/Engineering Technical Specialist III = 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity.
  • Planning, organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills.
  • Effective decision making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing).
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.

  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles.
  • Proficient at analyzing all aspects of three-phase AC power flow.
  • Knowledge of substation equipment and operations preferred.
  • Bachelor’s In Engineering (ABET accredited program, or equivalent recognized international program, or non-ABET accredited with post-graduate degree from accredited program, or valid US Professional Engineer license).
  • For Engineering Technical Specialist: 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree.
  • For Nuclear employees: At least 1 year of Nuclear power plant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently performs assignments with the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.
  • Exercises independent judgment and decision-making in planning, organizing, and conducting work.
  • Utilizes proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems.
  • Identifies and eliminates unnecessary work and non-value-added activities.
  • Reviews and coordinates work associated with Power Delivery in support of Millstone Power Station and Millstone 15G Substation.
  • Attends necessary meetings associated with online and outage work coordination.
  • Represents Millstone's interest in all Eversource work impacting Millstone Power Station.
  • Reviews all COEL related work to ensure it does not cause any undo contingencies or reliability issues.
  • Supports development of Risk Plans associated with COEL or Eversource work impacting Millstone Power Station.
  • Submits Eversource forms or requests for outages, tagging and/or other outage related paperwork.
  • Provides support for nuclear CR's, LEE's, HURB's and other nuclear processes.
  • Provides backup support for the Principal Engineer and COEL Supervisor during refuel outages and other times as necessary.
