About The Position

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. This position is within the ENG-WR group of E92. This person provides engineering review of Visual Work Instructions (VWIs) and other carrier engineering build authority documents, primarily within the electrical discipline. These reviews are performed within a model based manufacturing environment. Ensures build authority information provided within the VWI is consistent with the applicable technical authority documents. Reviews engineering change documents for applicability and proper incorporation within the build authority documents. Applies engineering and carrier construction knowledge towards the validation of welds, notes, and dimensions for Ford class carrier construction. Provides training to entry level engineers. Participates in development of processes and procedures. Interacts and collaborates with VWI developers, construction trade representatives, and planning personnel to ensure proper understanding of the work to be performed by and the requirements required of the VWI. Regularly participates in collaboration meetings. Frequently uses collaboration tools such as WebEx and Jabber. Uses Team Center, NGP, NX, SAP, and 1Tool daily to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with carrier engineering technical authority and build authority documents.
  • Engineering experience within the carrier program is highly preferred.
  • Experience using Team Center, NGP, NX, and SAP is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Understands and applies engineering procedures to manufacturing processes and production methods within a model based environment.
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn, enjoys working on teams and the ability to embrace change and adapt quickly.
