This position is responsible for responding to and attending to guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve maintenance issues, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. The role involves visually inspecting tools, equipment, or machines, carrying equipment, and identifying and operating shut-off valves. The engineer will maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and communicate daily activities and issues to other shifts. A thorough knowledge of building systems, emergency response, and building documentation, including reading blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC, is required. The position demands advanced engineering operations skills, general mechanical ability, and journeyman-level expertise in at least three of the following areas: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and finish skills, mechanical, general building management, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, and/or energy conservation. Proficiency in the safe use of hand and power tools is essential. The engineer will perform highly complex repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, and air conditioners, ensuring compliance with company standards and codes, with minimal supervision. Routine inspections of the entire property to identify and correct safety hazards, illumination issues, and equipment downtime are also key responsibilities. This includes inspecting and repairing mechanical equipment such as appliances, HVAC, electrical and plumbing components, boilers, pumps, and related components, utilizing the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work. Knowledge of maintenance contracts and vendors, as well as advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, is expected. The role involves advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems and the ability to train and mentor other engineers, supervise work, and act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of management. Performing Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds, is also part of the role.
