About The Position

This position is responsible for delivering functional fresh meats processing designs and execution that achieve business, financial, and strategic capital objectives. With over 240 facilities, Tyson Foods requires a robust engineering organization with state-of-the-art technology utilizing a continuous improvement mindset. This position can utilize advanced 3D design software to facilitate best in class food processing lines. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position will be responsible to manage overall projects from start to finish. Individuals will be responsible for taking capital projects from conception / conceptual design and budgeting through all phases of the stage gate process and ultimately to execution and completion. Collaboration with business leaders, department leaders, design firms, contractors, and government officials fall within the duties of this position. Day to day responsibilities include but are not limited to, creating/reviewing design drawings, scheduling and leading meetings with stake holders and support members, traveling to jobsites to review project progress, developing and updating project schedules, delegating tasks to project stakeholders, reviewing/revising contracts, traveling for equipment factory acceptance tests (FATs), submitting/tracking purchase requisitions, and budget tracking. Additional duties: developing process flow diagrams, scopes of work, and cost estimates; performing mass balances on manufacturing processes and providing equipment matrices for process changes; writing specifications for processing equipment and other process components; project management from concept through design, as well as engineering support during construction and startup of new processes; involvement in the selection of approved contractors; deciding which systems are best suited for a specific applications and how they are to be installed; working with safety engineers to become familiar with Tyson and OSHA regulations. Position will be located in North Sioux City, SD or at Corporate Meadow in Springdale, AR.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent engineering experience; preferably with a four-year degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 7+ years' applicable engineering experience in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the business processes related to beef manufacturing preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications- Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
  • Experience with SAP, Procore, Anaplan.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Visio a plus.
  • Outstanding team player and self-starter with a passion for customer service, developing business relationships and solving complex business issues.
  • Must have a passion for learning.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of teamwork, adaptability, and innovation.
  • Ability to communicate across a range of users, stakeholders, and management.
