About The Position

ATCO's Natural Gas Division is seeking Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) professionals to contribute to transforming the Utility industry. This role offers the opportunity to deliver a variety of pipeline and facility projects aimed at building a more resilient, sustainable, and affordable natural gas pipeline system for the communities served. Multiple E.I.T. positions are available across various locations in Alberta within engineering groups such as Natural Gas Distribution, Transmission, Facilities, Pipeline Integrity, System Planning, and Asset Management. Engineer in Training roles are responsible for both the engineering and project management of a portfolio of natural gas pipeline, piping, or facility projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) designation with APEGA
  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, decision making, organization and planning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Highest level of integrity and ethics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in project management, construction, and operations of distribution projects, or other related industries

Responsibilities

  • Be a Project Manager, developing and executing multiple projects for the construction, operation, and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and/or facilities.
  • Plan, budget, schedule, report, and ensure overall execution of the design, construction, commissioning, and close-out project phases.
  • Coordinate with a variety of internal teams (engineering, land, construction, operations, procurement, etc.) and external partners (consultants, contractors, vendors, etc.)
  • Contribute to the scope development and evaluation of projects during initiation
  • Ensure compliance with our company project management processes
  • Responsible for project specific conceptual and detailed technical design, primarily in the areas of pipeline, piping, facilities, or integrity engineering
  • Ensure compliance with code and company specifications, material and equipment specifications, optimization of design for operations and construction, job plan development, and any associated engineering calculations
  • Develop and improve technical company specifications or processes
  • Act as technical resource to provide support to various internal groups
  • Complete engineering assessments
  • Manage various capital or operational programs.
