About The Position

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Mine Operations to support operational technologies and leverage data for reporting, studies, and investigations. This role involves collaboration with colleagues in technical services, operations, and external contractors. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams. The position is located in the Elk Valley of British Columbia and offers a compressed work week with alternating Fridays off, promoting work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Mine or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience and certification)
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • Intermediate to advanced computational skills (SQL, VBA, Power BI and Office 365)
  • A strong desire to apply technical and operational knowledge in the continuous improvement of the operation
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and effectively troubleshoot problems are essential skills for this role
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1-2 years previous work experience in an open pit mining environment with previous experience using WENCO Fleet Management Systems or equivalent (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Analyze data, develop and maintain reports and data queries to provide the team with the best possible data to base day to day production decisions on
  • Assist with the continuous training and support of all Dispatchers and Supervisors in the proper use of the installed Dispatch System and data-driven tools
  • Communicate project objectives and deploy new technologies to several departments at site and across EVR including; technical engineering groups, mining supervisors and equipment operators
  • Work on a range of development activities such as economic evaluations and productivity analysis
  • Other responsibilities as required or as assigned
