By joining our Design Section as an Engineer-In-Training II in Kenton County, you'll have the opportunity to perform intermediately complex engineering work on projects with a larger scope of work to develop practical skills in support of academic theory to provide sufficient competence to qualify for registration as a professional engineer under KRS Chapter 322; performs other duties as required. (Engineering decisions by positions of this class must be reviewed.)

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have two years of engineering experience as an Engineer-In-Training.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Certification as an Engineer-In-Training recognized by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, analyzes and performs intermediately complex engineering projects in design.
  • Oversees portions of specific engineering related functions areas to analyze data and ensure compliance to approved plans and engineering standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, consultants, and engineering work performed by technical and sub-professional personnel.
  • May perform tests.
  • Use computer software to analyze, organize and compile data.
  • Assures calculations are accurate and presented in an effective manner.
  • Reduces survey field notes, assists in design of computer software, prepares estimates, traffic and planning studies.
  • Under the direct supervision of an engineer, reviews and interpret proposals, plans, and specifications.
  • Completes site visits, attend project development meetings and preconstruction meetings.
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports for Design.
