About The Position

This position is responsible for performing general repairs and maintenance work within the hotel. The engineer will provide assistance to senior engineers and respond to maintenance requests across various hotel areas including meeting rooms, guest rooms, food and beverage outlets, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. The role involves reviewing and completing a daily complaint log, performing tasks as dispatched by the espresso system, and executing minor set-ups for hotel functions. Additionally, the engineer will expedite the light bulb replacement program, maintain and stock supplies and tools in storerooms, and assist guests with any requests. Communication is key, as the engineer must communicate the status of maintenance requests to the dispatcher and follow up on all maintenance requests as directed by the Chief Engineer or supervisor. The role also ensures that the hotel's building systems operate safely, economically, and efficiently, and follows proper hotel standards when working in occupied guest rooms or areas. The engineer will assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring all hotel systems meet local, state, and federal standards, and will inform the Chief Engineer of any repair problems encountered during their shift. A basic knowledge of the hotel's plumbing, heating/boiler, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, fire safety, sprinkler, lighting, and communication systems is required. The engineer will also help monitor energy consumption and waste, maintain equipment and supplies, and use tools safely and correctly. A critical aspect of the role is to be familiar with hotel emergency procedures and respond quickly and accurately during emergencies, notifying all appropriate personnel. The engineer must promptly and fully notify immediate supervisors of any significant problems or unusual matters. Maintaining a polite, friendly, and helpful demeanor towards guests, management, and fellow employees is essential. The role requires attending all appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions, maintaining cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work areas, executing emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards, and complying with safety regulations, procedures, hotel policies, and rules. Recycling whenever possible and staying current with hotel information and changes are also expected. Compliance with hotel uniform and grooming standards and completion of any other assigned duties are part of the role.

Requirements

  • Courses in engineering/maintenance preferred
  • Must have English skills (read, write and speak)
  • Familiarity with basic tools and equipment, electrical, a/c pumps required.
  • This position requires bending, lifting and stooping.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be flexible to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be customer-service orientated and have excellent hospitality skills.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Minimum of two years previous experience working in general maintenance required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general repairs and maintenance work.
  • Provides assistance to senior engineers.
  • Responds to Meeting Room, Guest Room, Food & Beverage Outlet, Public Space, and Back of the house maintenance requests.
  • Reviews and completes daily complaint log.

  • Cleans engineering shop.

  • Communicates daily with Chief Engineer or supervisor on status of maintenance/repair assignments.
  • Ensures that the hotel's building systems are operating safely, economically and efficiently.
  • Follows proper hotel standards while engaging in repairs in occupied guest rooms or guest areas.
  • Assists the Chief Engineer in ensuring that all hotel systems meet the standards established by local, state and federal regulating agencies.
  • Informs Chief Engineer of any repair problems that may arise during their shift.
  • Has basic knowledge of hotel's plumbing, heating/boiler, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, fire safety, sprinkler, lighting and communication systems.
  • Assists Chief Engineer in floor/room inspections.
  • Helps monitor energy consumption and waste.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies.
  • Use tools safely and correctly.
  • Check clipboard and daily assignment sheet for job assignments.
  • Completely familiar with Hotel Emergency procedures and able to respond quickly and accurately during an actual emergency, to notify all appropriate personnel.
  • Notifies immediate supervisors promptly and fully of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to the guests, management, and fellow employees.
  • Attends all appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment, and work area.
  • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Complies with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Complies with hotel policies and rules.
