About The Position

The Engineer III is a highly skilled maintenance professional responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of all hotel facilities, building systems, and equipment while delivering exceptional guest experiences. This position performs advanced preventive and corrective maintenance, serves as a technical resource within their primary trade expertise, and provides guidance and support to junior engineering team members. The Engineer III responds to maintenance requests throughout guest rooms, meeting spaces, food and beverage outlets, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, while helping ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, hospitality experience, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining the luxury standards of Regent Santa Monica Beach.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, vocational training, or post-secondary education in Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities Management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of hands-on maintenance experience required, preferably within a luxury hotel, resort, or commercial facility environment; previous hospitality experience required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently and communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, pumps, lighting, fire life safety, communication systems, and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex maintenance issues, safely operate hand and power tools, and mentor junior engineering team members.
  • Must be guest-focused with exceptional hospitality, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and lift up to 75 pounds, and work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using maintenance management and building systems software such as HotSOS, Espresso, Opera, Lutron, Bartech, Inncom, Microsoft Office, or similar platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, carpentry, painting, locksmith, fire life safety, lighting, communication, and other building systems while serving as the primary resource within your designated trade expertise.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, guest concerns, and emergency situations throughout guest rooms, meeting spaces, food and beverage outlets, public areas, and back-of-house facilities while maintaining luxury service standards.
  • Review complaint logs, maintenance requests, and work order systems daily, completing assignments dispatched through HotSOS, Espresso, or similar platforms.
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical support to junior engineering team members while promoting teamwork and operational excellence.
  • Monitor, maintain, and help optimize the safe, efficient, and economical operation of all hotel equipment and building systems.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer and Assistant Director of Engineering with room inspections, facility inspections, regulatory compliance efforts, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Complete documentation related to maintenance activities, communicate assignment status to supervisors and dispatchers, and promptly report significant repair concerns or unusual operating conditions.
  • Perform minor function and event setups, equipment repairs, guest assistance requests, and maintenance support activities throughout the property.
  • Maintain inventories of tools, equipment, supplies, and replacement materials while ensuring engineering shops, storage areas, and workspaces remain clean, organized, and operationally ready.
  • Safely operate tools, equipment, materials, and chemicals in accordance with hotel standards, manufacturer guidelines, and safety procedures.
  • Execute hotel emergency procedures, support sustainability initiatives, comply with all safety regulations, policies, and grooming standards, and remain current on hotel updates and operational changes.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by hotel leadership.

Benefits

  • The hourly pay rate for this role is $24.65 - $30.82.
