Puget Sound Energy's Engineering Operations team is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an open Engineer III - Substation Controls position. This engineer will be responsible for designing controls systems for substations with voltages of 12kV and above. Control systems include all wiring for switchyard equipment, control house, and control panel devices up to the protective relays. The role also involves field support and developing project construction drawings, including detailed schematics and wiring diagrams, to integrate relays and electrical components for operating, protecting, and automating the electrical grid. Project work encompasses planned programs like "brownfield" substation equipment upgrades and SCADA integration, new "greenfield" substation design, and emergency equipment replacements. This position is within the Substation Engineering group and requires close coordination with other PSE engineering teams, including System Protection and Relay Engineering, and Substation Design. The engineer will provide professional engineering services in planning, construction, operation, maintenance, and analysis of PSE facilities. They will schedule and coordinate major project segments to meet cost and time objectives, review designs for compliance, and apply engineering principles to complex assignments. The role also involves supporting the development of PSE's engineering workforce by sharing knowledge and assisting in emergency response operations.
