About The Position

This position is a corporate engineering role focused on refrigeration engineering. The primary responsibilities include ensuring engineering projects, initiatives, and processes align with company policies and objectives. This involves reviewing designs, layouts, and projects before they are released for bidding or construction. The role requires providing ammonia refrigeration design engineering for new projects, evaluating existing systems, and recommending necessary changes or additions. The engineer must maintain a working knowledge of applicable ammonia refrigeration codes, provide support for engineering construction projects, and assist in developing Tyson specifications and standard guidelines for refrigeration projects. Additionally, the role involves preparing and reviewing estimates for design and construction, managing project budgets and schedules, and coordinating design work with other departments. The engineer will act as the company's representative when external engineering firms are involved in refrigeration design work and will prepare or supervise the preparation of ammonia refrigeration specifications for bidding and construction when projects are managed internally. Analyzing construction bids to recommend a successful bidder, maintaining current project knowledge regarding budget, schedule, and pressing issues, and assuming responsibility for project cost management are also key aspects. The role requires professional and constructive communication and interaction with customers, colleagues, vendors, division leaders, and upper management.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
3 plus year's ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
Knowledge and use of computer programs, drafting, spreadsheet, database and scheduling programs.
Microsoft exposure preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be capable of working on multi-faceted ammonia refrigeration projects of any magnitude while requiring limited supervision.
Demonstrated repeated ability to complete complex refrigeration projects on time and on budget.
Will have familiarity with a variety of project management and engineering discipline concepts, practices, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives.
Review designs, layouts and all projects before release for bidding or construction.
Provide ammonia refrigeration design engineering for new projects.
Evaluate existing ammonia refrigeration systems, and make or recommend changes or additions when necessary.
Maintain working knowledge of applicable ammonia refrigeration codes that pertain to development of projects.
Provide support for engineering construction projects.
Assist in development of Tyson specifications and standard guidelines for design implementation of all refrigeration projects.
Prepare and review estimates for design and construction and project budget & schedules.
Coordinate project design work including planning and design with other departments.
Act as the company's representative when an outside engineering firm is performing refrigeration design work for their discipline.
Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of complete ammonia refrigeration specifications necessary for bidding and construction purposes when the projects are managed within the group.
Analyze construction bids to recommend the successful bidder.
Maintain current project knowledge concerning budget, schedule, and all pressing issues.
Assume responsibility for project cost management.
Communicate & interact with customers, colleagues, vendors, division leaders, and upper management in a professional and constructive manner in all circumstances.
