Saber Power Services, a portfolio company of Greenbelt Capital Partners, is a fully integrated electrical power system services firm providing end-to-end solutions across utility, renewables and battery storage, industrial, petrochemical, and other markets. Based in Houston, Texas, Saber Power offers deep subject matter expertise and uses an engineering-led approach to designing, installing, testing, and maintaining medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. Saber serves clients locally, nationally, and abroad. Saber Power Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Engineer III – Civil to join our growing Engineering team. This position is responsible for leading civil engineering design efforts on complex utility, substation, renewable energy, industrial, and transmission projects while providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineering staff. Position Summary: The Engineer III – Civil is responsible for the planning, design, analysis, and execution of civil engineering projects supporting electrical substations, transmission lines, renewable energy facilities, industrial plants, and related infrastructure. This individual performs engineering calculations, develops construction drawings and specifications, coordinates multidisciplinary engineering efforts, and serves as a technical resource throughout the project lifecycle. This position is expected to perform independently on most assignments while supporting project managers and senior engineering staff to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 5–8 years of civil engineering experience, preferably supporting utility, EPC, or industrial projects.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar civil engineering software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop civil engineering designs for substations, transmission lines, renewable energy, and industrial facilities.
  • Prepare grading, drainage, stormwater, foundation, roadway, and site development plans.
  • Perform engineering calculations and prepare technical reports and construction documents.
  • Coordinate civil designs with electrical, structural, and construction teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and calculations for quality and accuracy.
  • Mentor Engineer I and Engineer II staff and provide technical guidance.
  • Support construction activities by responding to RFIs and reviewing submittits.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.
