Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, municipal infrastructure, and project management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A valid Indiana driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (for Civil Engineer III)
  • 1–4 years of relevant engineering experience (for Civil Engineer III)
  • Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) license (for Civil Engineer II)
  • 4+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including project management (for Civil Engineer II)

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support roadway, drainage, transportation, and capital improvement projects from planning through construction.
  • Analyze traffic operations, roadway safety, signage, parking, stormwater, and right-of-way issues, and develop engineering solutions.
  • Review engineering plans, development proposals, and stormwater calculations for compliance with City standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations for City boards and public meetings.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, utility companies, developers, and City departments throughout project delivery.
  • Conduct field inspections, respond to resident concerns, and provide technical guidance on engineering matters.
  • Maintain current knowledge of engineering practices, regulations, and municipal standards.
