About The Position

Scout Motors is bringing back an iconic American vehicle, electrifying and digitizing it with American innovation. We are looking for a Design Responsible Engineer (DRE) for IID Switches to be responsible for the electrical hardware design and release of electrical switches and switch modules. This role will cover the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept through virtual development, testing, sign-off, and manufacturing launch for Scout rugged SUVs and pick-ups. The DRE will collaborate with Studio, Concept, Purchasing, and Finance teams to define technical specifications for quoting and sourcing. They will manage supplier resources to meet cost, timing, and quality targets, and work with suppliers to develop robust electrical design verification and validation plans, conduct virtual and physical testing, and ensure issue resolution before program validation signoff. The role involves defining electrical interfaces for switch modules that align with vehicle EE architecture, power distribution, grounding, diagnostics, and network communication requirements. Collaboration with software and systems teams on switch logic, diagnostics, and fault handling is crucial. The DRE must ensure designs comply with safety standards and U.S. government regulations, and proactively propose system improvements based on consumer experience. This position is based in Novi, Michigan, requiring 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.
