About The Position

VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTA) is seeking an experienced Engineer to support a NAVSEA program office in the development of Mine Countermeasures (MCM) and unmanned systems. This position reports on-site at the Washington Navy Yard 3 days/week.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific discipline
  • 5+ years of naval systems engineering experience
  • Experience in marine infrastructure and/or navy ship design acquisition process
  • Experience with robotics and autonomy and software loads
  • Experience with software baselines and hardware compatibility challenges
  • Familiar with Navy systems engineering acquisition
  • Advance proficiency using MS Excel
  • Ability to communicate technical concerns within the program office
  • Ability to assess and address risks
  • Maintain a holistic technical and programmatic view
  • Ability to organize and prioritize project tasks
  • Ability to adapt and pivot in a fast paced work environment

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 8+ years of naval systems engineering experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Mine systems, Mine Countermeasures (MCM) and Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) systems to support MCM (Mission Package)
  • Knowledge of the Navy's acquisition process and key naval acquisition roles and organizations
  • Professional Engineering Certification

Responsibilities

  • Support NAVSEA program with research, development, production, integration and sustainment of mine warfare systems and unmanned technology and mission packages
  • Research, analyze, assess and coordinate systems engineering acquisition capabilities documents, decision memorandums, and requirements
  • Assess software baselines and identify hardware capability challenges and risks
  • Assist Team Lead with tracking project schedule and performance
  • Provide engineering and management activities to ensure supportability implications are considered early and throughout the acquisition process to minimize costs
  • Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
