Work of this class may involve leading engineers and supervising sub-professional engineering and other personnel. Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where there are no uncomfortable working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Three years of experience in performing engineering work
  • Some positions may require an Engineer-In-Training certificate from the State of Maryland
  • Some positions may require an Engineering Technologist certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
  • Some positions may require current licensure as a Professional Engineer issued by the Maryland State Board of Professional Engineers or equivalent out-of-state license
  • Some positions may require a valid Maryland Class C Non-Commercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for the Bachelors of Science degree in engineering or for two years of the experience requirement.
