About The Position

E2 is seeking a highly motivated Engineer II to join our team in the Los Angeles office, supporting one of the nation’s largest natural gas utility clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in engineering reconciliation efforts across multiple departments, with a primary focus on the development, review, and validation of as-built drawings and related documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in natural gas pipeline design or a related engineering role within a utility or consulting environment.
  • Working knowledge of commonly used components and practices in pipeline and electrical design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.
  • Experience with gas and electrical design and construction standards for SoCalGas.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AVEVA, or similar engineering design software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and incorporate markups for commonly updated elements on as-built drawings.
  • Maintain and update asset management tables to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Label valves, filters, and regulators in accordance with GIS standards and requirements.
  • Calculate stationing for fittings, tie-ins, and other pipeline components.
  • Review site photographs and Daily Inspection Reports (DIRs) to resolve discrepancies between field conditions and design redlines.
  • Verify that electrical equipment is located outside hazardous area classifications or is appropriately rated for the designated environment.
  • Ensure cable and conduit schedules accurately correspond with project layouts and design documents.
  • Review drawing rejection comments and coordinate with reviewers to ensure all required revisions are properly addressed.
  • Perform quality control reviews of as-built drawings prior to submission to confirm all markups have been incorporated accurately.
  • Document and justify any comments that are not incorporated, ensuring proper explanation is included in the comment log.
