General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB) is undertaking a significant challenge to restore the U.S. Navy Submarine Force's capacity and capabilities, requiring a robust supply chain of over 2700 suppliers to increase material throughput while maintaining quality, meeting technical specifications, and ensuring proper record keeping. The newly created Supplier Development Engineer role, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor of Supply Chain Development and Risk Management, is crucial for providing oversight of supplier performance, including on-time delivery, first-time quality, and assurance of capacity and capability. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with various stakeholders across engineering, quality, program offices, and procurement, and provides high visibility to Navy strategies and opportunities in the supply base, with direct interaction with government, third parties, and assessment teams. The role involves collecting and analyzing cross-functional data to perform annual critical supplier assessments, identifying performance issues, conducting root cause analysis, and developing corrective actions.
