The Electrical & Electronic Solutions (EES) team is seeking a collaborative, action-oriented Electrical/Electronic Test Engineer to be a contributor within a group of motivated problem solvers. This position has responsibility for electrical test engineering activities associated with the development, qualification, and verification of electronic systems at the board, box, and subsystem levels through scripted automated testing. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Working knowledge of circuit design, test, and troubleshooting of electronic circuits with ability to document anomalies and support corrective action development.
  • 1+ years of experience in electronics development activities including testing, integration, and basic design support.
  • Ability to develop test automation scripts in Python or Ruby to support testing requirements.
  • Experience with testing electronic systems for aerospace or defense applications.
  • Understanding hardware/software integration and basic verification techniques at the board and box level.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, meet schedules, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Good communication skills, including ability to document test results and present findings to technical audiences.
  • Solid organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining test documentation.
  • A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to high-speed digital electronics, analog circuitry, FPGAs, and embedded processor systems.
  • Basic familiarity with signal and power integrity concepts in digital designs.
  • Experience with PCB testing and debug.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, UART, or similar standards.
  • Experience with aerospace or defense programs involving avionics, spacecraft electronics, or tactical systems.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD qualification standards for aerospace and defense electronic systems.
  • Exposure to environmental testing of electronic assemblies.
  • Experience supporting major program reviews such as PDR or CDR.
  • Skills in MATLAB, LabVIEW, or other test automation tools.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.

Responsibilities

  • Support qualification and validation efforts for electronic assemblies at the board and box levels, ensuring products meet performance, reliability, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct board and box-level electronics testing and troubleshooting, including basic hardware anomaly resolution and documentation of findings.
  • Assist in designing test fixtures, test plans, and test procedures for prototype and qualification testing of electronic assemblies.
  • Execute test activities throughout the electronics development lifecycle under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Document test engineering activities, including test procedures, test logs, test records, and test reports in accordance with program requirements.
  • Develop basic test automation scripts in Python or Ruby to support test execution.
  • Collaborate with technicians and cross-functional team members to support project schedules and resolve technical issues.
  • Support program milestone reviews such as PDR and CDR through preparation of test data and results presentations.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
