About The Position

Our Water/Wastewater team in Richmond is looking for an Engineer I to join our team. In this role you will perform design and project delivery for water/wastewater projects, including water distribution systems and sewage collection systems. This is an opportunity to work with a team of experienced project managers in a truly collaborative environment to support our municipal clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
  • Zero to two years of experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater facilities and conveyance infrastructure (pipelines, force mains, and pump stations)
  • A self-starter, versatile, and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting our Water and Wastewater Group
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment facilities
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems
  • Assist with the preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Assist with project management activities for select tasks and develop project management skills for expanded responsibilities
  • Support field testing and investigations when required
  • Support construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders) when required
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with the project team including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, structural engineers, CAD designers, and others
