About The Position

The Supplier Quality Engineering team is responsible for driving the quality of the raw materials and components from our suppliers worldwide. This includes managing supplier risk through Quality Management System (QMS) certification and/or surveys, leading/supporting supplier QMS based audits, supporting external audits related to supplier management, and driving suppliers to use robust root cause / failure analysis techniques and implement systemic corrective actions to address any quality issues that arise from our manufacturing sites.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a science related field (physics, chemistry, materials) or engineering related field (mechanical, electrical).
  • US Citizen (position requires working in ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) approved facilities and on ITAR approved products.
  • Ability to learn effectively solve problems using standardized processes (i.e. 5 Whys, 8D, 7-Step, etc.).
  • A detail oriented, self-starter who drives open issues and projects to completion.
  • Ability to travel to other Microchip and/or supplier sites domestically or internationally.
  • Willingness to occasionally call into meetings outside of normal working hours (Microchip is a global company).
  • Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years experience in manufacturing and/or quality engineering is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing / periodically reviewing supplier certification and survey status.
  • Managing / periodically reviewing supplier quality scoring and taking action to address.
  • Perform supplier audits, note gaps and formulate action items to close.
  • Work with the internal factory Quality teams to review issues found during incoming inspection and/or the production line and help determine whether the issue originated internally or is supplier caused.
  • Learn and use the various internal tools and processes to document non-conformances and drive appropriate corrective actions and process improvements from the supplier to better meet Microchip’s Quality requirements.
  • Attend key meetings to give non-conformance updates / progress to the factory teams and supplier quality engineering teams.
  • Work with fellow Quality related individuals (Factory Quality, Customer Quality, Supplier Quality) as needed across other Microchip sites, both within the US and outside (i.e. Asia, Europe).
