About The Position

This role focuses on optimizing existing products based on input from marketing, customers, operations, and development engineers. The engineer will maintain existing products, processes, and specifications, including making modifications for new applications that are consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. A key responsibility is to initiate and implement programs for continuous improvement in quality and cost, while meeting customer requirements. The role may also involve supporting and implementing product extensions to existing platforms to meet specific customer needs. The engineer is expected to have a thorough understanding of the products they are responsible for. The scope of impact involves running individual small projects or specific tasks within larger projects, such as creating and modifying detailed drawings or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches, or notes. The engineer may or may not be a core team member on projects.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of technical tools specific to the job function: e.g. CAD, CAE, industrial or quality engineering tools.
• Basic awareness of general engineering tools (LEAN or 6-sigma) such as DoE, FMEA, QFD, etc.
• Influence in present role at the individual project team level.

Responsibilities

• Optimizes existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operations, development engineers or other personnel.
• Maintains existing products, processes, and specifications.
• Makes modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies.

• Runs individual small projects (WWS) or individual project tasks.
