About The Position

This role involves performing physical design, grading and site design, or structural design of electrical power substations or transmission lines. The engineer will assist in the creation of drawings, specifications, and contract documents for construction, fabrication, or site grading. Responsibilities also include assisting senior engineers in research, engineering studies, and material evaluation. For Engineer II, the focus is on electrical power substations, creating construction documents, and applying design techniques with adaptations under supervision. Engineer III independently performs substation design, creates construction or fabrication documents, and evaluates design techniques with modifications. They may represent engineering on specific assignments and assist in training new associates. New design specifications are developed for senior engineer approval. Work is performed independently under technical guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Engineer I: Zero (0) to one and a half (1.5) years of experience.
  • Engineer II: One and a half (1.5) years of design or maintenance experience in the electric utility industry.
  • Engineer III: Three (3) years of design experience, preferably in the electric utility.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of EIT preferred for Engineer III.

Responsibilities

  • Assists senior engineers in the training of new design associates.
  • Develops new design specifications for approval by the senior engineer.
