The Substation Engineering department is responsible for the engineering, design, and execution of transmission and distribution substation capital projects that support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of electric service. The department provides technical expertise and project leadership for new installations, expansions, upgrades, and asset replacement projects while supporting operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term system performance. Engineers in this department work closely with internal stakeholders, construction and operations personnel, field technicians, and external engineering consultants throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities include engineering design, project planning, cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, accrual management, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and project closeout to support successful execution of the capital business plan. Engineers also provide technical support for the resolution of complex operational and reliability challenges affecting transmission and distribution substation assets. The position will be filled at the appropriate level depending on the candidate's experience level: Engineer I, II, III, or Principal. The position can be located in Louisville or Lexington, KY based on the candidate's preference.
