About The Position

RK&K is hiring a Transportation Engineer to join its team in Columbia, South Carolina. The Highway/Roadway Engineer will design and analyze transportation facilities, including new roadways, roadway widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements. The position supports preparation of design documentation and specifications and works with other disciplines to develop creative solutions to design challenges.

Requirements

• Zero to two years of experience in roadway design.
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principles.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• Experience with sidewalk or shared-use path design.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Prepare plan, profile, cross-section, and detail sheets.
• Design temporary traffic control plans.
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Support preparation of design documentation.
• Support preparation of specifications packages.
• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges.
