Under the direction of the Director of Engineering and the Chief Engineer. The General Maintenance and Electrician engages in the work and activities that repair and maintain electrical systems and components of Fisher Island Club. Performs preventive maintenance work that could involve the use and operation of complex and highly technical equipment and techniques. Exhibit sound decision making skills and be an example in productivity and professionalism. Does not engage in, nor allow others on the staff to work in a hazardous manner or under hazardous conditions. As an essential part of the Engineering team, this position must available to assist the team in all daily requests unless otherwise instructed to do change priorities.

Requirements

  • Must have completed High School or GED Diploma
  • Minimum of 4 years-experience in a hotel/resort/Club environment or directly related industrial or facility maintenance
  • Must have current journeyman certifications and/or credentials to perform their specialty skills and disciplines.
  • Must possess good communication and organizational skills with the ability to work with and along with others.
  • Ability and experience to safely use power equipment and hand tools necessary to accomplish repairs and maintenance work
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions and to lift, carry, push, and/or pull a variety of tools, equipment, and materials. (Lift/sustain up to 50 lbs.)
  • Physically capable of performing rigorous tasks including working from ladders, installing electrical conduit in various areas including landscaping, working beneath equipment, and in various conditions and settings are required for the normal performance of assigned tasks.
  • Able to work flexible hours, days and holidays, in accordance with operational needs, with short or no notice including nights/holidays and weekends.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Departmental rules, regulations, standards, dress code and appearance. Behave in a professional manner and demonstrate a friendly and caring attitude toward co-workers. Show prompt responsiveness when asked to complete any task consistent with Fisher Island Club standards.
  • Comply with Federal, State, Local, Hotel and Departmental Safety Regulations and Procedures
  • Completes assigned work orders within assigned time frame in order to achieve the utmost operational efficiency of the Club and its equipment and systems.
  • Maintain written daily log of assigned work and work completed to include time it took to complete task.
  • Maintains tools, workspaces, and equipment in safe, secure, and good conditions in order to reduce accidents and to prolong their use.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in accordance with National Electric Code
  • Run tests on electrical components to ensure a safe and effective installation
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment for any damage, malfunctions, and safety hazards
  • Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems. Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers
  • Ensures Club emergency electrical systems are operational; performs certification testing on alarm systems.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs new equipment and systems, including all building lights and programmable lighting controls
  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electric Code Requirements and communicate findings to management.
  • Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems.
  • Comply with strict adherence to Club security and safety policies and procedures. Eliminate hazards and/or safety violations.
  • Knowledgeable of all major and emergency equipment locations and their functions, including Life and Property systems (fire detection, fire suppression, emergency generator, departmental fire drill/response procedures, emergency HVAC operation, gas and water shut-off valves, main electrical disconnects, etc.).
  • Complete Preventive Maintenance work, including the monitoring, control, and performance of scheduled P.M. on all systems.
  • Responsible for PPE (personal protection equipment) use and daily maintenance.
  • Assure the maintenance of working parts inventory of all parts needed for the department. Knowledge of vendor and pricing policies & procedures. Maintain and control the Tool Inventory to include proper securing, storage and training in the proper use and function.
  • Support the Nuvola work order system in implementation and adherence, including the prioritization of assigned work. Originate work orders to remedy problems and/or faulty conditions and assure the quality and timeliness of the remedial work.
  • Maintain open and professional communication between management and staff. Follow procedures in the use and maintenance of all communication equipment and devices. Review all employee and department bulletin boards and strictly adhere to Fisher Island Club policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and communication of information.
  • Support the facility’s Hazard Communication Program. This includes a thorough knowledge of MSD, product labeling, storing, and handling of materials etc.
  • Perform other job-related duties as directed.
