About The Position

Plant electrician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and installing all plant electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment. Additionally, this role is required to carry other general maintenance duties to support plant need. This job requires the mentality to make general repairs to equipment involving the knowledge of mechanical or electrical principles. The ideal candidate must perform at the highest level of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years industrial electrical maintenance experience.
  • Ability to use the tools of the trade in which the work is to be performed.
  • Use and knowledge of testing equipment.
  • Use of all hand tools common to electrical & mechanical trades.
  • Employees will supply necessary hand tools and testing equipment to perform duties of Electrical Maintenance position.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting duties, which involve checking, testing, and inspecting to determine the root cause of the issue.
  • Make necessary repairs or adjustments to correct defects.
  • With the aid of blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, or verbal instructions perform the installation of, repair to, and maintenance of all plant electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections and walk through on each shift and make log entries each shift.
  • Troubleshoot, alter, and start up PLC-based systems.
  • Use software to check out storeroom parts and enter maintenance work orders.
  • Diligently practice good safety and housekeeping techniques in accordance with shop rules.
  • Must have general knowledge of NFPA 70E
  • Required to work on voltage levels up to and including 480 AC and around high voltage equipment.
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in plant.
  • Performs work required for the repair, maintenance, lubrication, installation, and modernization of machinery systems for buildings, equipment and grounds.
  • Clean and rebuild mechanical components such as gearbox stands and related machinery.
  • Perform electrical tasks with the ability to read blueprints, terminate cable, install and troubleshoot from drawings, and must be sufficient in rough-in work.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, blueprints and written instructions.
  • Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts.
  • Ability to use the tools of the trade in which the work is to be performed.
  • Use and knowledge of testing equipment.
  • Use of all hand tools common to electrical & mechanical trades.
  • Employees will supply necessary hand tools and testing equipment to perform duties of Electrical Maintenance position.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
