About The Position

Citizens Energy Group is seeking an Engineer (I/II)-Gas to join their Energy Distribution Engineering (EDE) department within Capital Programs and Engineering (CP&E). The role will be filled at either an Engineer I-Gas or Engineer II-Gas level, depending on the candidate's experience. The EDE team is responsible for the design, engineering, measurement, procedures, and records management of gas distribution and transmission systems. An Engineer I-Gas is an entry-level position, performing routine natural gas engineering assignments under close supervision, applying basic engineering principles. An Engineer II-Gas is a mid-level engineer or technical specialist, performing natural gas transmission design engineering and analysis under general supervision, with opportunities to broaden their knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Valid driver’s license in the United States, or alternate approved by management (Engineer I-Gas).
  • State of Indiana driver’s license required within 30 days of first day of employment (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Must have a safe driving record including no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, suspensions/revocations, or DUI/DWI convictions within the last three years (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Must pass and participate in the random Drug & Alcohol program in accordance with Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administrative 192 requirements (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from either an ABET accredited program or a recognized accredited program in their home country, or sufficient education acceptable by management (Engineer II-Gas).
  • 2 years of related experience or 1 year of Citizens experience (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Valid driver’s license in the United States, or alternate approved by management (Engineer II-Gas).
  • State of Indiana driver’s license required within 30 days of first day of employment (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Must have a safe driving record including no history of serious traffic violations, accidents, suspensions/revocations, or DUI/DWI convictions within the last three years (Engineer II-Gas).

  • Experienced in computer software in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and design software including Autodesk products, and Esri Geographic Information System (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Ability to work in office and field environment (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Detailed understanding of utility systems (Engineer II-Gas).

Responsibilities

  • Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Develops an understanding and complies with the Citizens Quality Program. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Shares information with others as requested (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers (Engineer I-Gas).
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Performs other duties as assigned (Engineer I-Gas).
  • Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and Citizens policies and procedures (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Begins to apply knowledge and complies with Citizens Quality Program relative to assigned tasks. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Prepares moderately complex engineering deliverables (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles (Engineer II-Gas).
  • May provide direction and guidance to others (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Assigns tasks to and coordinates with other internal/external team members on less complex projects (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Initiates contact with other disciplines as needed to identify and coordinate details of the work (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Actively seeks to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and interaction and communication with project leadership (Engineer II-Gas).
  • Applies understanding of client interests and drivers to performance of the work under his/her responsibility (Engineer II-Gas).
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities (Engineer II-Gas).
