About The Position

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role involves identifying issues with processes and tools, completing complex RPA and RTU configuration, expanding communication technology competency, supporting stakeholders with SCADA related issues, and completing alarm and basic I/O settings. The position requires implementing standards, assisting with SCADA compliance, and analyzing/recommending enhancements to business processes. It also involves coordinating work activities, performing routine engineering activities independently, and providing training and guidance to lower-level employees. The role requires resolving and initiating solutions to routine and/or moderately complex problems, identifying problems beyond the normal routine, and seeking out new ideas and approaches. Communication and interpersonal skills are important for coordinating work and leading aspects of team efforts.

Requirements

  • Engineer/Engineering Technologist Associate SG6: Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET.
  • Engineer/Engineering Technologist SG7: Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET along with two or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Engineer/Engineering Technologist SG7: Master’s degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET.
  • Engineer/Engineering Technologist SG7: Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Engineer/Engineering Technologist SG7: Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor’s program.

Nice To Haves

  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.
  • A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree; however, engineering degrees will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Identify issues with processes and tools and provide possible solutions.
  • Complete complex RPA with both new and legacy aspects with limited supervision.
  • Complete complex RTU configuration with both new and legacy aspects with limited supervision.
  • Expand communication technology competency to include legacy applications (Async, Sync, AEP, etc).
  • Support stakeholders with common SCADA related issues.
  • Complete alarm and basic I/O 2411 settings for both greenfield and brownfield projects with limited supervision.
  • Implement standards in appropriate measures with limited guidance from higher-level team members.
  • Assist higher level team members with overall SCADA compliance items.
  • Possess advanced knowledge and perform varied assignments with proficiency in the application of theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analyses.
  • Understand interrelationship between systems and component equipment.
  • Analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.
  • Coordinate work activities of others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity as necessary to perform routine engineering work.
  • Perform routine engineering activity independently.
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
  • Develop input necessary to forecast costs for routine projects, improvements requisitions, etc.
  • Resolve and initiate solutions to routine and/or moderately complex problems which usually require additional definition/clarification before analysis can begin.
  • Identify problems that are beyond the normal routine.
  • Seek out opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches.
  • Help coordinate the work of other engineers in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Lead aspects of team effort.
  • Leverage skills developed from company programs such as Power Up & Lead.
