About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Engineer Energetics Manufacturing – level 2 or 3 to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility. The Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems. This position can be hired at either a level 2 or 3 engineering position, depending on the candidate's education, experience, and demonstrated skills. This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.

Requirements

Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
For Level 2: Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of experience, or a Master's degree with 0 or more years of experience.
For Level 3: Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of experience.

Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for polymer and adhesives manufacturing and application, as well as energetics materials chemistry and process development.
Provide manufacturing support to operations to meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
Create, maintain and improve Process Control Documentation.
Establish manufacturing lines for new products and product upgrades, including Lean process flow, capacity planning, digital modeling/simulation, facility and equipment needs definition, cost-benefit analysis for capital projects, equipment specifications, vendor collaboration for equipment run-off and installation, safety requirements establishment, Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) requirements, start-up support and initial training, and procedure establishment.
Conduct continuous improvement activities, including Lean manufacturing implementation, 5-S programs, Process FMEA's, process map generation, standard work establishment, time studies/audits, monitoring and improving production touch labor costs, establishing and monitoring Key Characteristics for manufacturing/processing.
Provide operational support, including analyzing processes and equipment for capabilities and downtime causes, analyzing yield and scrap rate data to improve processes, providing technical support for improvements, determining root cause and corrective actions for deficiencies, conducting process capabilities studies, continually monitoring processes, generating and maintaining Statistical Process Control (SPC) program, monitoring actual production vs. plan, establishing and adhering to safety requirements, supporting Hazard Analysis, establishing tooling requirements, assisting in the design of initial tooling and test equipment, and assisting operations and maintenance in troubleshooting and equipment repairs.
Assist in defining product count points for financial tracking.
Additive manufacturing design, development, and implementation where practical.
