About The Position

This position is for an individual to support the Carrier Propulsion Plant Obsolescence Management Program. It would be helpful for the individual to have experience with CVN68 Class Propulsion and Reactor plant components and to be familiar with Navy supply system (NSNs, APLs). It would also be useful if the candidate has some understanding of the Navy supply system ordering requirements, material specifications, manuals and a general understanding about qualification requirements for CVN68 Class Propulsion and Reactor Plant replacement components. Excellent communication skills and the ability to discuss technical issues with technical and non-technical department personnel and suppliers are a must.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Applies electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing.
  • Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
  • Supporting improvements to the processes used for determining and tracking obsolete material, determining prioritization of replacement efforts, researching information needed to support engineering material reviews, providing technical review of resolutions for obsolete material and supporting development of technical documents for ordering requirements for applicable resolutions.
  • Review technical responses to Navy supply system Liaison Action Requests (LARs) concerning material obsolescence.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to engineers, designers, and logistics support personnel who are performing work to determine resolutions for material shortages.
