About The Position

Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a motivated Engineer-Diver to join its team in Columbia, Maryland. The role combines civil/structural engineering with commercial diving and hands-on field inspection of bridges, waterfront structures, and other critical infrastructure. The Engineer-Diver supports underwater and topside inspections, condition assessments, inspection reporting, and the development of maintenance and repair recommendations while working with experienced engineers, divers, and inspection team leaders. Work includes a mix of field and office assignments, mostly regional travel, and opportunities to develop specialized expertise in underwater inspection, bridge inspection, and related engineering services. Relocation is available.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited four-year university, plus appropriate continuing education.
0–5 years of experience.
Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) credential, or ability to obtain it within one year.
Open-water diving experience.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including frequent lifting or moving of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Perform waterfront, underwater, and topside bridge inspections.
Assist with completing inspection and assessment reports.
Review and interpret plans and design drawings.
Document inspection findings.
Support the development of maintenance and repair recommendations.
Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians on inspections.
Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare project deliverables.
Communicate with engineering teams and project stakeholders.
Observe and act appropriately regarding safety.
Travel as required, mostly regionally.
Participate in training programs to enhance inspection skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
