About The Position
Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineer Diver to join its team in Fairfax, Virginia. This role combines engineering expertise with underwater exploration and contributes to projects that support the safety and longevity of critical infrastructure. The Engineer Diver will work on waterfront and underwater bridge inspections and related engineering tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, employee-focused environment. Some travel, mostly regional, is required. Relocation is available.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited four-year university, plus appropriate continuing education.
- 0–5 years of experience.
- Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) certification or ability to obtain it within one year.
- Open-water diving experience.
- Ability to meet the described physical demands, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
Nice To Haves
- ADCI certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform waterfront, underwater, and topside bridge inspections.
- Assist with preparing inspection and assessment reports and document findings.
- Review and interpret plans and design drawings.
- Support the development of maintenance or repair recommendations.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians on inspections.
- Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare project deliverables.
- Communicate with engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Observe safety requirements and act appropriately regarding safety.
- Participate in training programs to enhance inspection skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
