About The Position

Conducts engineering and analytical assessments for unplanned outages, events and incidents impacting the distribution system, including post event and root cause analysis to support operational reliability. Also develops, updates, and maintains distribution operational procedures and ensures all process changes are properly documented and communicated to stakeholders. Provides engineering support to the control room to assess and improve Distribution System performance. Leads the data quality process used to develop system performance metrics to help evaluate and strengthen reliability of the electric distribution network. Contributes to produce, maintain and update operating procedures and processes to ensure full compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements. Contributes to the design of a root cause analysis framework and perform analyses that drive corrective actions and operational improvements. Conducts post event and disturbance analysis to ensure findings are technically sound and aligned with System Operations policies. Identifies human related outage contributors, document lessons learned, and support implementation of improvement measures. Coordinates technical studies and analyses using strong communication skills to advance reliability, stability, and optimization of Distribution Systems. Supports other System Operations teams on technical issues impacting Generation and Transmission performance to enhance system-wide efficiency. Analyzes operational logs, real time data, and performance indicators to detect failures, improve system efficiency, and recommend productivity improvements. Builds strong cross functional relationships to represent System Operation in Asset Management, Planning Strategy, and corporate initiatives, ensuring alignment and collaboration across engineering teams. Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations. Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services. Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university or college
  • 5 years of experience in area of power generation, power system, power quality and/or real-time control center operation
  • Experience working with documents, policies, SOP creation and implementation.
  • Experience leading or collaborating with small projects.
  • Experience as matter-expert and asset resource to provide support to internal/external clients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly grasp new concepts and apply knowledge effectively.
  • Understands and respects safety protocols in all activities.
  • Shows initiative and dedication toward achieving professional licensure and career progression.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills to effectively engage with the entire team and ensure clarity and collaboration.
  • Willingness to learn and adjust to a dynamic operational environment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and engineering principles.
  • Valid driver’s License
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) or Engineer in training License (EIT) Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects.
  • Be a member of the Puerto Rico Association of Engineers and Surveyors.
