About The Position

Eversource is seeking an Engineer to join their Distribution Engineering Team. This role involves working with complex systems and equipment, providing engineering and technical services to support a growing organization. The position offers a hybrid schedule, allowing for work both in the office and in the field on various projects. Key areas of expertise include engineering and designing new infrastructure, analyzing systems, and addressing equipment failures and disruptions. This role is part of the Distribution Engineering organization covering Western Massachusetts and is based in Hadley, MA. The Distribution Engineer is responsible for the strategic development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance, and operation of the system and equipment to ensure reliable customer service. Technical solutions and modernization initiatives aim to improve operations and integrate renewable energy resources. The group also focuses on preventing, evaluating, and resolving system failures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 3-5 years related experience is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred.
  • Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects through collaborations with other departments.
  • Familiarity with power-related software is preferred.
  • Engineering design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts engineering and related studies; completes non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight and the ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces.
  • Possesses and applies fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures; proficient in technical and analytical competencies necessary to handle assignments of increasing complexity.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
