This role is responsible for the battery structures for all new Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUV products. The engineer will collaborate with a full battery supplier through virtual development, testing/sign-off, and manufacturing launch. Key activities include creating and optimizing CAD data for cost, functionality, weight, and manufacturability, integrating the high voltage battery into the vehicle architecture, defining design verification plans, and working with suppliers and engineering service providers. The role also involves fostering a collaborative culture, developing CAD data for testing, ensuring designs meet safety standards and regulations, and proactively proposing system improvements based on consumer experience. Resource management, including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners, and people, is also a responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, engineering management or a relevant field
  • 4+ years of experience in body mechanical areas and relevant automotive assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Expert in CATIA V5. Including the ability to make 3D parametric models and 2D drawings
  • Strong technical skills and expertise to problem-solving
  • Ability to lead simultaneous engineering teams
  • Good knowledge of MS Office products
  • Familiarity with computer-aided engineering (CAE) or direct experience in this field.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the battery structures for all new products.
  • Work together with a full battery supplier through virtual development, testing/sign-off and manufacturing launch for all Scout all-electric pick-up and rugged SUVs.
  • Creating the CAD-Data in interaction with the full battery supplier.
  • Optimize the CAD-Data with respect to cost, functionality, weight, and manufacturability.
  • Responsible for the integration of the high voltage battery into the vehicle architecture.
  • Define design verification plans and align with the test engineers.
  • Working together with suppliers and engineering service providers.
  • Be a part of a diverse team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Develop CAD data for virtual and physical verification testing, including field testing.
  • Ensure designs conform to safety standards and U.S. government regulations.
  • Proactively stay attuned to consumer experience and propose system improvements accordingly.
  • Manage resources efficiently including infrastructure, financial, supplier partners and people.
