We are currently seeking an Engineer Area Lead to support our Oak Ridge location. The Area Lead will support engineering activities for emerging opportunities in the civil nuclear sector, with a focus on advanced nuclear technologies and future nuclear new-build programs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in piping, layout engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience supporting large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Strong understanding of plant layout, physical design, and interface coordination
  • Ability to manage complex design integration activities across multiple disciplines
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Piping Engineering, Layout Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with nuclear power plant design or other highly regulated industries
  • Familiarity with advanced reactor designs
  • Knowledge of constructability, spatial design optimization, and clash detection tools
  • Experience supporting licensing-related design integration

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate layout, building, and physical design activities within assigned plant areas
  • Ensure area-level design information is integrated and aligned across engineering disciplines
  • Manage interfaces between layout engineers, building/physical design engineers, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and licensing teams
  • Identify and resolve design clashes, interface issues, and integration challenges
  • Track and manage design assumptions, dependencies, and risks affecting deliverables
  • Identify design maturity gaps and support the development of mitigation strategies
  • Ensure alignment of design outputs with licensing, constructability, and project requirements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and design and layout teams
  • Support development and maintenance of the integrated master schedule
