About The Position

The engineer and project manager will work within an experienced technical team to carry out plant engineering assignments, mainly in the agri-food sector, but also in related industrial environments such as the manufacture of cosmetics or other consumer goods using sanitary processes. Projects involve both processing (heat exchangers, CIP systems, sanitary pumps, control valves, etc.) and utility support systems (compressors, chillers, water towers, boilers, etc.). The successful candidate will contribute to design, site supervision, and start-up assistance. He or she will also play a key role in integrated project management, ensuring technical coordination between multidisciplinary team members and liaising with stakeholders. It is required that he or she has an excellent command of French, an intermediate level of English, and ease in interacting with clients and colleagues outside Quebec. Occasional short- or medium-term travel within North America is to be expected. The incumbent will also be called upon to support the technical development of the team, actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the group, and support the evolution of our services in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainable development.

Requirements

  • University degree in engineering
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, in French and English
  • Valid passport and vehicle with driver's license for short (less than one week) or medium-term (two to four weeks) travel in North America
  • Computer proficiency and comfort with common software (MS Office, MS Project, Bluebeam)
  • Have a natural aptitude for teamwork and knowledge sharing
  • Ability to manage priorities while meeting deadlines
  • 4-8 years of relevant engineering experience, including some in project management. Experience in consulting engineering is an asset.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with experience in mechanical engineering will be given careful consideration
  • Solid understanding of sanitary standards (3A), piping codes (ASME B31.1/B31.3) and regulated environments
  • Experience in designing or supporting the operation of complex systems: steam, refrigeration, CIP, water treatment
  • Knowledge of piping network analysis and modeling tools (e.g., Pipe-Flo, stress analysis)
  • Ability to work in specialized sectors (food, brewing, dairy, cosmetics)
  • Interest or experience in continuous improvement, energy audits, and sustainable development (e.g., ISO 50001, CEM, REM)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the drafting of service proposals and the estimation of required hours.
  • Develop schedules (Gantt charts) and monitor budgets.
  • Plan and lead meetings with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage action lists, responsibilities, and deadlines.
  • Analyze client needs and propose appropriate technical solutions.
  • Design processing systems for sanitary environments.
  • Assess utility requirements (compressed air, steam, refrigeration) and perform energy audits.
  • Take site measurements.
  • Work with the design team to develop PFDs, P&IDs, and layout plans.
  • Participate in the design of piping plans (selection of components, slopes, supports, etc.).
  • Dimension piping, calculate pressure drops, and establish specifications.
  • Select equipment (pumps, instruments, valves, etc.).
  • Produce equipment lists (valves, instruments).
  • Write operating descriptions and technical specifications.
  • Prepare tender documents and manage the bidding process.
  • Plan work and coordinate the various trades.
  • Supervise construction work and support contractors.
  • Issue work permits and conduct health and safety audits.
  • Produce reports and follow-up reports.
  • Participate in start-up and commissioning.
