About The Position

At the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), we plan, build, maintain, and protect the transportation systems that connect communities, support commerce, and keep Louisiana moving. The ADA of Operations serves as the senior engineering authority for the District regarding Districtwide Road/Bridge Maintenance, Traffic Engineering and Operations, Ferry Operations, and Equipment Management/Repair, providing executive support to the District Administrator in these areas. This position is in District 58 and reports to the District Administrator. Preference will be given to current DOTD employees.

Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following, which must include two years of experience at the supervisory level or above: Four years of licensed engineering experience; or Eight years of professional engineering experience.
Must have a current Louisiana Professional Engineering License.
Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position, he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment.

Responsibilities

Direct districtwide road and bridge maintenance, equipment servicing, parts inventory, and a local ferry operation.
Oversee traffic engineering section, roadway signage/striping crews, and roadway safety studies.
Oversee the maintenance and planning of districtwide facility systems and buildings.
Plan and direct emergency preparedness, natural disaster responses, and hazardous material incidents.
Manage Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), railroad coordination, and accident reimbursable programs.
