This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Engineer with commercial derivative aircraft expertise to support the Presidential Executive Airlift program. This role involves translating user requirements into weapons system requirements and supporting the design, development, testing, and evaluation of systems for eventual deployment.

Requirements

  • 10 years with Bachelor’s
  • 7 years with Master’s
  • 3 years with PhD
  • Experience in design, development, and mission systems integration of commercial derivatives or military transports.
  • Propulsion, Auxillary Power, Fuel, Hydraulic and Electrical Generating Systems
  • Test planning and sustainment operations
  • FAA and Air Force certification processes
  • Review engineering change notices/proposals, contract modifications, and program risks.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license
  • FAA Repairman certificate

Responsibilities

  • Apply MIL-HDBK-516C criteria, military airworthiness processes, compliance mapping, and SSRA development.
  • Understand FARs, NPRMs, ADs, and AMOCs for certification and compliance.
  • Conduct trade-off assessments, translate requirements into system specifications, and support design/test activities.
  • Prepare/review technical evaluations, engineering studies, acquisition strategies, RFPs, test plans, ATPs, and spectrum determinations.
  • Participate in project meetings and reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FCA, PCA, PMR, etc.).
  • Support assessments of cost, life-cycle, maintainability, reliability, risk, and scheduling trade-offs.
