About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests components, equipment and systems. Designs equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of all disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. Develops technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective, for desired results. Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives. Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 Years with Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering
  • 3 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree
  • 0 years of relevant professional experience with a PhD.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable of understanding Foundations and O&F designs.
  • Knowledgeable of understanding HVAC and pipe designs.
  • Ability to travel to a different state for up to three months at a time as needed
  • Working knowledge of planning yard processes.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical liaison between the Planning Yard, Naval Supervising Activity (NSA), and Program Management Representative (PMR).
  • Provide interpretation of design products and assistance in resolving technical problems.
  • Support the local NSA and PMR during availability work periods with modernization and repair assistance.
  • Provide assistance in response to Condition Found Reports.
  • Represent the Planning Yard at daily and weekly production reviews.
  • Experience with ship modernization, availability, process and procedure.
  • Engineering experience and knowledge of systems for CG47, LCS, LPD17, LHA and LHD ship classes preferred.
  • Prior experience in support of waterfront production efforts.
