About The Position

M.C. Dean is seeking an Engineer 2 to join their Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. This role involves designing, engineering, integrating, operating, and maintaining electronic security services, including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audio visual, IT systems, perimeter defense, and command and control systems for federal, local, and commercial customers. The position is based in Charleston, SC.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a SECRET Clearance is REQUIRED.
  • Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity, with the provision of SE services for physical security systems and IT solutions.
  • Must obtain a Security+ within 6-months.

  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide system programming and management support for large-scale networking infrastructures.
  • Administer and maintain high-performance computer configurations, systems, and peripherals.
  • Participate in system integration projects, system performance analyses, problem resolution, and system security initiatives.
  • Work with senior staff in the development of system management tools.
  • Collaborate with other Company Departments to provide comprehensive support for commercial, corporate, and governmental users.
  • Maintain system documentation and maintenance records, and generate weekly/monthly summary status reports.
  • Dedicate 4-6 hours per week to staying current on industry trends and available products/services.
  • Perform staging and setup for project support and self-instruction.
  • Install and configure networks based on an Installation Design Package (IDP) in collaboration with Systems Engineers.
  • Research equipment from various manufacturers to resolve technical issues during installation and testing.
  • Identify and correct design problems during the design cycle by working closely with the Design Department.
  • Suggest process improvements and cost savings to aid the Implementation Department.
  • Provide systems support for a large-scale, high-performance computing center, including installation and management of computer systems, workstations, operating systems, peripherals, and system interfaces.
  • Monitor system usage and evaluate performance against defined goals with senior staff.
  • Develop and maintain systems documentation.
  • Provide designs for automation systems, including a list of quantities and types of materials used.
  • Create user guideline documentation and manuals for custom programs and applications.
  • Work within a lab environment to learn different IT and ESS systems.
