About The Position

This position is responsible for executing routine engineering activities and coordinating and supporting more complex engineering deliverables. The role requires technical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and excellent teamwork skills to be successful. It provides engineering assistance in support of engineers, project managers and others, and applies engineering knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
  • Two years of applicable engineering experience or a combination of education and applicable engineering experience.
  • EIT Certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Examining Board for Engineers, Architects, Surveyors and Landscape Architects
  • Business knowledge in the utility & regulated environment.
  • Experience applying sound judgment to make decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent team player and ability to prioritize assignments to meet commitments.
  • Problem-solving skills with proven ability to resolve engineering issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree counts as one year.
  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience in utility industry trade organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering assistance in support of engineers, project managers and others.
  • Applies engineering knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Supports projects within scope, schedule, and cost, under supervision of an engineer licensed in Puerto Rico.
  • Assists and performs assignments in specialized areas requiring engineering skills.
  • Reviews of functional specifications for completeness and consider practical limitations.
  • Collaborates with design activities as a member of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.
  • Coordinates basic work planning, budgeting and cost estimating.
  • Develops and updates single line diagrams, and design drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Supports material procurement.
  • Supports QA/QC design reviews.
  • Provides engineering support to field and construction groups.
  • Utilizes, develop, and improve engineering processes and standards.
  • Provides reporting, including presentations to work groups and management.
  • Position may be required to work extended hours including major storm restoration work and associated drills as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
