About The Position

AtkinsRealis is seeking a Telecom Project Engineer to join their team in Tallahassee, FL. This position will require a minimum of 1-4 years of experience with Electrical, Communications, or Computer Engineering. The role will include providing engineering support tasks embedded at client office with other AtkinsRealis team members in Tallahassee, FL. The role designs and develops scopes of work, plans, and drawings. Assignments may include microwave communications networks, fiber optic systems, IP/MPLS networking, electrical power systems, equipment shelters, HVACs, lightning protection systems and grounding, emergency generators, DC power systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electronic entry systems, video surveillance systems, and network management systems. The role organizes and conducts engineering investigations and planning work which have a well-defined scope. The role outlines and prepares relatively straightforward reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional. The role provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures under the guidance of a more experienced professional, and evaluates the results from quality control testing. The role researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications. The role prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates. The role participates in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others. The role performs field observations of construction and system integration activities where appropriate. The role performs field inspections of existing systems to assess condition. The role prepares and makes presentations to staff and client. The role performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Communications, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university.
  • 1-4 years of experience with Electrical, Communications, or Computer Engineering.
  • E.I. or EIT is required.
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills required.
  • Technical drawing (CAD, MicroStation, Visio or equivalent) skills required.
  • Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.
