About The Position

U-Haul is hiring skilled and experienced Engine Specialists (Mechanics) to join their team. This role involves using U-Haul Company’s proprietary technology to assess and care for field vehicles. Ideal candidates can diagnose mechanical and drivability problems and repair or replace major or minor gasoline-engine parts and related components (heating, cooling systems and radiators) of U-Haul trucks.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record to operate commercial motor vehicles.
Adhere to all local state (provincial) and federal vehicular regulations while driving.
Must have your own tools.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts.
Overhaul and repair engines or motors; disassemble engines and repair or replace defective parts; reassemble engines and make adjustments as needed; use oxygen-acetylene, electro arc-welding or similar types of equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, maintain and repair engines, and oil and lubricate engine and chassis.
Install timing gears, crankshafts, bearings, cylinders, and drive systems.
Willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.
